XIV century. Prince Dmitry Ivanovich is building new defensive walls in Moscow, preparing to resist the Horde. Special concerns about the Secret Tower, and so that no one would give away the secrets that it keeps, Dmitry ordered all the masons who built this tower to be taken to the forest and killed. Only one of the masters — Kirill — escaped. And he harbored a grudge against the prince. And later I saw, hiding from the princely people, that there are many people who are just as embittered, suffering oppression from the authorities. Someone is offended by the boyar, someone is offended by the monastery. And it's not just that! Ryazan residents do not like Moscow residents. And Prince Oleg of Ryazan does not like Prince Dmitry himself. Will everyone be able to forget old scores among themselves in order to stand together against the Horde on Kulikovo Field at the decisive hour? This is the plot of the novel "Dmitry Donskoy" by the famous writer-historian Sergei Borodin (1902-1974). The novel is republished in the year of the 120th anniversary of the author's birth.
