Knigu ne zria sravnivaiut s «Proletaia nad gnezdom kukushki» Kena Kizi, obshchikh tem u dvukh ėtikh proizvedeniĭ predostatochno: lichnostnaia svoboda, borʹba s sistemoĭ, otstaivanie svoego chelovecheskogo dostoinstva. Pravda, zlo, v litse direktrisy Stelvagen, teperʹ, v XXI veke, kuda menee krovozhadnoe i zhestokoe. Dlia dostizheniia svoeĭ tseli ona reshaet ustanovitʹ v koridorakh kamery nabliudeniia. A esli XX vek i nauchil chemu-to geroev romana, tak ėto tomu, chto za svobodu nado borotʹsia, svoi prava otstaivatʹ, a liubye proiavleniia totalitarizma u vlasti nemedlenno presekatʹ. A znachit, delo idet k buntu i grazhdanskomu nepovinoveniiu. Pri ėtom, nesmotria na vsiu glubinu zatragivaemykh tem, kniga poluchilasʹ neobyknovenno legkaia, veselaia i ozornaia.
In form this novel-diary entries of one of the inhabitants of the nursing home, in fact-a subtle reflection of modern society. The book is not in vain compared with" Flying over the cuckoo's nest " Ken Kesey, the common themes of these two works abound: personal freedom, the struggle with the system, defending their human dignity. True evil, in the face of the headmistress Stelwagen, now, in the twenty-first century, much less bloodthirsty and cruel. Evil but from this it does not cease to be, because Stelwagen encroaches on the main asset of the heroes of the last generation who survived the Second world war for their freedom. Mrs. Stellwagen decided in that whatever was to track down the saboteur who feeds cookies aquarium fish, causing them to die. To achieve its goal, it decides to install surveillance cameras in the corridors. And if the XX century also taught something to heroes of the novel, so it that for freedom it is necessary to fight, the rights to defend, and any manifestations of totalitarianism in power to stop immediately. So, it goes to rebellion and civil disobedience. At the same time, despite the depth of the topics covered, the book turned out to be unusually light, cheerful and mischievous.
