Milan Berg stoit na svetofore, kogda ri͡adom s nim ostanavlivaetsi͡a mashina. Na zadnem sidenʹe ispugannai͡a devochka. V otchai͡anii ona prizhimaet k steklu listok bumagi. Krik o pomoshchi? Milan ne mozhet prochitatʹ poslanie - potomu chto on negramotnyĭ! Odin iz shesti millionov negramotnykh li͡udeĭ v Germanii. Odnako emu i͡asno: devochke grozit smertelʹnai͡a opasnostʹ.

Milan Berg is standing at a traffic light when a car stops next to him. There's a scared girl in the backseat. In desperation, she presses a piece of paper against the glass. A cry for help? Milan cannot read the message — because he is illiterate! One of the six million illiterate people in Germany. However, it is clear to him: the girl is in mortal danger. The search for the captive and attempts to help her turn into a nightmarish odyssey for Milan, at the end of which a cruel discovery awaits him: sometimes the truth is unbearably terrible to live with, and ignorance is the greatest gift in the world.
