Alice Adams is a sweet young creature, a charming flirt, not devoid of intelligence and ambition. She lives in a modest house with her parents and dreams of a beautiful life and great love. When "that Arthur Russell" appears on the horizon, an attractive, friendly, gallant, ideal fiance, Alice has to make every effort to stay on top and hide the dire financial situation of her family. However, her father, Mr. Adams, keeps a secret that can elevate their family to the top of wealth. But at what cost?. . The novel "Alice Adams" brought its author, Booth Tarkington, the Pulitzer Prize (the second in a row, Tarkington received the first Pulitzer for the novel "Magnificent Ambersons"). This is an elegant story of love and disappointment, a story about how a frivolous girl comes to know true values and accept the world as it is. For the first time in Russian!
