Vladislav Mikhailovich Glinka (1903-1983) was a writer and historian who worked for many years at the State Hermitage Museum. He survived the siege of Leningrad, working in this difficult time as a curator in the Hermitage, a paramedic in the hospital and at the same time responsible for the preservation of the collections of the IRLI of the USSR Academy of Sciences ("Pushkin House").The manuscript of "Memories of the Blockade" was discovered by the heirs of V. M. Glinka after the author's death during the analysis of the archive. The story of the first winter of the siege in Leningrad is undoubtedly the main thing from the author's memoir, where the main characters of the story are two layers of people who found themselves in the blockade. One of these layers is the dying one. The other, on the contrary, is unusually tenacious. This is the peculiarity of the blockade memoirs of V. M. Glinka-scenes that characterize the inevitability of the death of entire layers of cultural workers in the disaster of 1941-42.
