Artist Must Think. Стратегии и практики художника Вадима Захарова 1978–2025

Opyt, priobretennyĭ za ėto vremi͡a, unikalen, a estestvennye dli͡a dalekikh doperestroechnykh let idei i strategii - samoorganizat͡sii͡a khudozhnika, sobiranie i khranenie arkhivov, malotirazhnye izdanii͡a, kvartirnye vystavki - i segodni͡a okazalisʹ t͡sennymi. Nazvanie knigi - 'Khudozhnik dolzhen dumatʹ!', i ėto osobenno aktualʹno segodni͡a, kogda kardinalʹno meni͡ai͡utsi͡a osnovy mirovoĭ kulʹtury i sovremennogo iskusstva. Voĭny, agressii͡a, t͡senzura, zaprety, novye i starye ideologii aktivno pronikai͡ut so vsekh storon v nashu povsednevnui͡u zhiznʹ i v tvorchestvo. My dolzhny snova i snova borotʹsi͡a za svobodu mysli, ėto nash edinstvennyĭ shans vyzhitʹ.

The experience gained during this time is unique, and the ideas and strategies that were natural for the distant pre–perestroika years – the self-organization of the artist, the collection and storage of archives, small-circulation publications, apartment exhibitions - have proved valuable today. The title of the book is 'An artist must think! And this is especially true today, when the foundations of world culture and modern art are changing dramatically. Wars, aggression, censorship, prohibitions, new and old ideologies are actively penetrating our daily lives and creativity from all sides. We must fight for freedom of thought over and over again, this is our only chance to survive.
