The year is 1470. King Edward of York is exiled from England. Queen Elizabeth and her children tremble for their lives in Westminster Abbey. The Lancastrians won the crown, but the Yorkies did not give up the fight. Edward makes a desperate attempt to regain the throne — he makes an alliance with the ruler of Burgundy, Charles the Bold, and gets a small mercenary army and ships under his command. There is a town called Ravenspur at the mouth of the Humber River, which means "crow's spur." Seventy years ago, another claimant to the English throne, Henry Bolingbroke, the future founder of the Lancaster dynasty, landed there. Eduard believes that he will be able to repeat the success of his predecessor if he starts the campaign from the same place. There is an important reason for this belief: Ravenspur is located on the edge of Yorkshire, his ancestral county.
