Many large and small ethnic groups inhabit the Caucasus. Their customs, songs, and traditions are often very different from each other. It is all the more surprising that Chechens, Ingush, Ossetians, Adygs, Abkhazians, Balkars, Karachays, as well as partly Georgians and Armenians, have a common folklore cycle named Nartiada. These are tales of heroic sleds, wise men, and, in fact, mortal gods. The variety of genres of the Narthyad is amazing: stories about exploits and sacrifice, about love and hate, tales of sages and rogues, cosmogonic myths, etc. The roots of these stories go back thousands of years, but take a closer look — everything here is alive, everything trembles, plays, sparkles…In this book, for the first time, selected tales about the sleds of various peoples of the North Caucasus are brought together and artistically retold by the writer Igor Malyshev, a finalist of the literary prize "Big Book". Now this national treasure is available to the widest audience of our large country.
