Одноэтажная Америка

Odnazhdy, priblizitelʹno v kont͡se 70-kh, perechityvai͡a "Odnoėtazhnui͡u Ameriku" Ilʹfa i Petrova, i͡a podumal: kak bylo by zdorovo povtoritʹ puteshestvie Ilʹfa i Petrova, no na seĭ raz dli͡a televidenii͡a. Ėta mechta kazalasʹ sovershenno nerealʹnoĭ. I͡A znal, chto meni͡a nikogda ne vypusti͡at iz strany... No nesmotri͡a ni na chto, spusti͡a pochti 25 let vse sbylosʹ. Kak pisal Nikolaĭ Vasilʹevich Gogolʹ, "kto chto ni govori, a podobnye proisshestvii͡a byvai͡ut na svete, - redko, no byvai͡ut". Prav byl Gogolʹ. Prav.

One day, around the end of the 70s, rereading Ilf and Petrov's "One-Story America," I thought: It would be great to repeat the journey of Ilf and Petrov, but this time for television. This dream seemed completely unreal. I knew they would never let me out of the country... But no matter what, after almost 25 years, everything came true. As Nikolai Vasilyevich Gogol wrote, "no matter what you say, such incidents happen in the world — rarely, but they happen." Gogol was right. Right.
