For the first time, the "Jewish War" by the famous historian Josephus Flavius (37-100), translated from ancient Greek, is offered to the attention of readers. It is one of the most significant works not only of ancient, but of world historiography in general, created by an author who equally absorbed both Jewish and Roman culture. Flavius wrote his work literally in the footsteps of the "Jewish war" — the Great Jewish Uprising against Roman rule (69-71), in which he himself participated, and presented this war in all its fury and versatility, placing it in the broad context of Jewish history.
