"The Mirror" is a philosophical novel about love, memory and time, about the world as a space of reflections, where one constantly appears in the other. This is a book of rare inner freedom and spiritual clarity, in which childhood, music, myth and word combine into a deep knowledge of a person. With exceptional virtuosity, Vladimir Gandelsman Auerbach communicates to prose the precision of construction and the subtlety of nuance usually inherent in music. At the center of this novel is childhood and memory, that disappearing matter of life that, despite the loss, continues to shine in the word.Solomon Volkov's book by Lera Auerbach is a symbiosis of a letter with a note. Her magnum opus "The Mirror" is a "musical" poetic experience: a subtle, elegant, airy weave of intricately intertwined motifs, a novel for a solo virtuoso.Alexander Genis
