This is what Nela Gerbold, an intelligent, educated woman who grew up in the village of Sokol, the nest of the Moscow intelligentsia, thinks about in the twenties of the XXI century. She suddenly realizes that her life is falling apart not only due to personal circumstances, as it seemed to her. Exactly one hundred years ago, at the height of the NEP, engineer Leonid Gerbold, Nela's great-grandfather, built a house in Sokol in the hope of a happy future, but the misanthropic "great turning point" destroyed his happiness.
