The Portrait of Dorian Gray is Oscar Wilde's only novel and an absolute masterpiece of world literature. The story of a beautiful young man who exchanged his soul for eternal youth remains relevant. For a century, this text has fascinated readers with the convergence of vice and virtue, beauty and ugliness, art and life. In this edition, the novel is presented in a new translation by the outstanding master Leonid Motylev. The translator has worked for many years with Wilde's legacy, translating his letters and fundamental biography. The new translation is true to the style, bold imagery, rhythm and sound of Wilde's prose — elegant, but also dynamic, pulsating, sharp, contrasting, intelligent, aphoristic and devoid of ceremonious grandiloquence. A beautiful gift edition with a shaded edge.
