On Halloween eve, a brutal, seemingly ritualistic murder takes place in southern Portugal. There is a bloody cross on the pavement, and a sign carved with cold precision on the victim's chest. Inspector Paula, an experienced investigator, takes on the case, unaware that it will lead her to the tragic events of the past, which many would prefer to forget. Investigating the chain of crimes that happened in Spain and Portugal turns into a personal ordeal: Paula is faced not only with the madness of the criminal, but also with the risk of losing everything that is dear to her.
