The memoirs of Prince Adam Chartoryzhsky (1770-1861) are one of the main historical sources of the reign of Alexander I. The notes that came out from his pen show us how Russian life and the people who were at the head of the state at the end of the XVIII and at the beginning of the XIX century were presented at that time. Everything in this book is interesting and important — both the facts reported by the author, and the author himself in his judgments about these facts. Among the memoir literature dating back to the beginning of the XIX century, this book undoubtedly occupies a prominent place.
