Novizna knigi sostoit v pereosmyslenii priznannykh shedevrov Serebrianogo veka i vo vvedenii v literaturovedcheskiĭ oborot maloizvestnykh ili nezasluzhenno zabytykh tekstov. Novoe osveshchenie poluchaiut Kuzmin i Akhmatova, posledniaia — kak sumevshaia podniatʹ zhiznetvorchestvo, praktikovavsheesia simvolistami, na nedosiagaemyĭ dlia nikh urovenʹ, sootvetstvovavshiĭ modernistskoĭ ėstetike «sredinnosti». Kniga prednaznachena dlia spetsialistov po russkoĭ literature i shirokogo intelligentnogo chitatelia.
This book highlights and analyzes the direction within the Silver Age, conventionally designated as the modernism of the "middle way". The texts of relatively late, "mature" modernists — Mikhail Kuzmin, Osip Mandelstam, Anna Akhmatova, Boris Pasternak, Marina Tsvetaeva and Georgy Ivanov — are considered — a galaxy of authors who abandoned the super — valuable ideas of the symbolist and futuristic model (leaving this world for another_ such hypostases of the writer as a demiurge, prophet, magician, superman, etc.) and saw the main advantage of an artistic statement in literature: taste and style_ the human voice_ non-trivial content_ experiments organically embedded in the narrative, and-more broadly-the living balance of all parts of the text. The novelty of the book consists in rethinking the recognized masterpieces of the Silver Age and in introducing little-known or undeservedly forgotten texts into literary circulation. Kuzmin and Akhmatova receive new coverage, the latter-as she managed to raise the life-creation practiced by the symbolists to a level unattainable for them, corresponding to the modernist aesthetics of "mediocrity". The detailed monographic analyses proposed in the 14 chapters of this book are combined with discussions about the state of such subdisciplines as Akhmatova studies, kuzministics and Mandelstam studies. The book is intended for specialists in Russian literature and a wide intelligent reader.
