The new edition of the scientific work "The Tragedy of Afghanistan" consists of two parts. Part I, "The Origins of the Tragedy," analyzes the role that the theory of the non-capitalist path of development, created by Soviet scientists, played in the fate of revolutionary democratic parties and developing countries, and in particular in the fate of the People's Democratic Party of Afghanistan (PDPA) and the Democratic Republic of Afghanistan (DRA), as well as in the fate of the USSR. Part II, "Continuation of the Tragedy," contains a brief analysis of the situation in Afghanistan that developed after the fall of the PDPA government, as well as after the flight of Americans from this country on August 30, 2021 and the coming to power of the Taliban organization banned in Russia.It is recommended for social scientists, international practitioners, as well as graduate students and students studying Asian countries, and in particular Afghanistan.
