At the beginning of spring, the Jewish people celebrate the merry holiday of Purim. The book of the Tanakh, called Megillat Esther (“Scroll of Esther”), is dedicated to the history of this holiday. In the days of the Persian king Ahasuerus, Minister Haman planned to destroy all the Jews of the Persian Empire. Casting lots (hence the name of the holiday, "Purim" in Akkadian - lot), he set the date of the extermination of the Jews on the thirteenth day of the month of Adar. Thanks to the efforts of the king's wife, Esther, a Jew, and her relative Mordechai, Haman was hanged. At the same time, his decree was not revoked, but the Jews received the right to defend themselves and kill their enemies on 13 Adar. The Purim travel guide covers several topics.
