Julien Hartridge Green (1900-1998) was one of the greatest French—language writers of the 20th century, the author of novels, short stories, plays, an autobiography, and a multi—volume diary, an authentic encyclopedia of the cultural life of the century. The first member of the French Academy with a foreign nationality, he became famous as a virtuoso master of psychological prose, combining deep reflection with classical narration. His collected works were published during his lifetime in the prestigious "Pleiade" series of the Gallimard publishing house. For the Russian-speaking reader, Green remains almost unknown. This collection includes three novels — "Kristina", "The Keys of Death" and "Leviathan", written a hundred years ago. For the first time in Russian with an afterword by translator Alexey Voinov.
