The main character of the novel by the famous Italian writer Bianca Pitzorno is a girl from a very poor family, born in a small town on the island of Sardinia at the end of the 19th century. She taught herself to read, loves ladies' romance novels and Puccini operas, but even if deep down she dreams of a handsome prince, in real life she relies only on her mind and skillful hands. Through the eyes of a young dressmaker who enters rich houses, we see the amazing stories of the inhabitants of her town. There are love dramas, broken hearts, and even murder (or maybe suicide?).
