Maria Golovanivsky – writer, translator, journalist. The author of the books "Contradiction in essence", "Moscow romance", "Twenty letters to God", "Pangea" (shortlisted for the awards "the NOSE" and "Made in Russia").
"Who's afraid of the sea" is one of the most ruthless of the texts, though, it would seem to us intimate, sad story of failed love. But it really is a story of triumphant, successful DISLIKE. The heroine of the novel comes to old-fashioned European resort for peace and happiness. All her life she fought against life itself. Lived by the rules, without embellishment, telling the truth in his eyes, and found himself in a world of serenity, of old money and beauty. It destroys the world around them, because otherwise they can't do it. She won and she's devastated...
The ocean lay still, breathlessly, occasionally only small wrinkle was startled and melted the sand. He was diligently reflected the cloud, the island of Santa Clara, a boat for buoys. And suddenly bent like a fish, flashed his eyes, exhaled and banged a paw on the beach, raising a cloud of spray...
The sky in response, blackened, jerked the wind, went on the overpass, rushed into the stone breast of the embankment, rushed through the streets. And the ocean gets more and more, he breathed, wheezed, growled... Then, turning waves, rolled over on his other side, snorted and became a glass mirror, but so flawless that in the reflection you could see every feather of the Seagull, black bead eyes and joyfully leaping out of the open beak tongue.
Maya was stunned. It seemed that the wind lifted it and after carefully, like a precious child, put in place".
