Magic helps to live through the days of endless work of the scullery maid Lucia Cotado: a few magic words, spoken stealthily, lighten the burden of work. Having discovered Lucia's gift, the hostess forces her to demonstrate her abilities to the guests, which attracts the attention of Antonio Perez, the former secretary of the king. Perez will stop at nothing to regain the king's favor. To do this, he organizes a tournament, intending to choose the best miracle worker who will take a place at court. Lucia becomes one of the candidates. Determined to seize the only chance to improve her position, Lucia plunges into the world of magic and intrigue. She will have to use all her wits and willpower to survive. Even if it means enlisting the help of Guillen Santangel, an embittered immortal familiar whose own secrets could prove deadly to both of them.
